Previously adapted for the stage at the Poetry Project for the tenth (dir. Fiona Templeton) and twentieth (dir. Chana Porter) anniversaries of the 9/11 attacks, Ron Silliman called The Dust, when it was published in 2003, “The first great poetic work to emerge from the trauma of September 11.’’

Production History

​

The Dust was first adapted for the stage by Fiona Templeton, produced by the Relationship, to mark the 10th anniversary of 9/11 in a performance on September 11, 2011, produced by the St. Mark’s Poetry Project, and performed in the church’s Parish Hall.

​

In November 2023, The Dust was staged as part of I Am Angry at a Force I Cannot See: Based on the Poetry of Michael Gottlieb, directed by Chana Porter, produced by the St. Mark’s Poetry Project, and performed in the church’s Sanctuary 
 

Bios​

Franklin Bruno. is an American singer-songwriter, academic and writer originally from Upland, California. According to Robert Christgau, "Franklin Bruno knows pop.”  

​

Robert Fitterman is the author of 16 books of poetry. His most recent publication is a translation of Italian poet Roberto Balò’s, Saga (Lavender Ink/Diálogos, 2026). Other recent titles include Creve Coeur (Winter Editions), This Window Makes Me Feel (Ugly Duckling Presse), No, Wait. Yep. Definitely Still Hate Myself. (UDP) and Rob the Plagiarist (Roof Books).
He is the founding member of the ongoing artists-poets collective Collective Task, www.collectivetask.org. He lives and works in New York City.

Drew Gardner has been conducting and experimenting in extensive poetomusical collaborations with his Poetics Orchestra and Poetry Band since the late 1990s.

​

As an actor, Bob has been Baal, Krapp,  Gogo, John Smith, Uncle Sam, Czar Nicholas II, David Burliuk, and Ubu.

​

Brenda Iijima is the author of the novel, Shelter is Necessary for Existence, forthcoming from Two Dollar Radio in October, 2026.

​

Sue Landers is a poet in Brooklyn, whose newest book, What to Carry Into the Future, emerged from riding every NYC subway from end to end. 

 

Georgia Wartel Collins comes from a deeply musical family which shaped everything from early street performances to a life that’s always moved freely between styles.
